Bruins Roll Past Panthers 5-1 for 1-0 Series Lead
The Boston Bruins have a 1-0 lead over the Florida Panthers after winning Game 1 of the second-round matchup on Tuesday night at TD Garden. WEB Swayman stopped 38 shots, including some key saves in the third period, as the Bruins controlled the game from start to finish.
Bruins Dominate from the Start
The Bruins struck first with a goal from Patrice Bergeron just 6:14 into the game. The Bruins continued to put pressure on the Panthers throughout the first period, outshooting them 12-6.
The Bruins extended their lead in the second period with a power-play goal from David Pastrnak. The Bruins continued to control the play in the second, outshooting the Panthers 10-7.
The Panthers had a few chances to get back into the game in the third period, but Swayman was there to make the saves. The Bruins added an empty-net goal from Craig Smith late in the third to seal the 5-1 victory.
The Bruins swept the four-game regular season series against the Panthers, but that does not erase the fact that the Panthers are a dangerous team. The Panthers have a lot of offensive firepower, and they are capable of winning any game.
The Bruins will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series when they host the Panthers in Game 2 on Thursday night.
